ADOLF LEONHARDT

ADOLF LEONHARDT (5003095), West Germany,  7066gt, completed Finkenwarder 9-1951. 1963 LOTTE LEONHARDT - 1965 AGIOS ANDREAS - 1977 EMMANUEL KAMATEROS - 1978 JOINT VENTURE, BU Split 25.6.79 (details from Miramar)

A classic Middlesbrough Dock view with the Transporter Bridge clearly visible as a backdrop. SMITH'S DOCK NO. 3 heading into the Dock Cut with a glimpse of one of the pilot cutters in the foreground. Pity this negative was scratched.

By coincidence I heard recently from Gerhard L. Mueller-Debus who sent me a photo of the AGIOS ANDREAS taken in Bangkok, Thailand, in August 1975. This was the former ADOLF LEONHARDT.

His main purpose in bringing this to my attention was in connection with the The FLYING ENTERPRISE Saga
According to Gerhard (I've not yet been able to confirm this)
the ADOLF LEONHARDT was on her maiden voyage with a full cargo of coal from Hampton Rds, VA, to Bremen, Germany, when she lost her rudder during that crucial storm (December 1951). The vessel was saved in a last-ditch-effort and later towed to Bremen, where her cargo was discharged and repairs were carried out.
