THORNABY

Full panoramic view across the harbour at Sunderland looking from North Dock across to Greenwell's, the dock entrance, and (extreme right) the start of Corporation Quay.
Sunderland used to be one of the few places you might be stopped by security people in the 1960s. On one of my earliest trips there, along with my pal, someone advised us to say we were heading from Greenwell's if asked what we were doing!

A closer look at the THORNABY at Sunderland. Seems to be a Shell tanker in drydock behind.

THORNABY, Ropner, 12146gt, completed Laing's, Sunderland, 6-1955. 1966 D.G.PAPALIOS, 1969 broken up.
