When I saw this ship in Hull Docks (Alexandra Dock) on 4 July 1967 there was no disguising the fact she was already a veteran of the seas. She had, in fact, already been around for 51 years since completed at Trondheim in 1916 as the FAGER. In 1933 she was renamed AKABAHRA; then MIRVA in 1935; and KNOLL in 1939. She served as such until becoming the RAMSNES in 1961. She lasted another 10 years until she sustained damage by stranding in September 1971, and was broken up the following year - 56 years old.
Under the Norwegian flag as the RAMSNES she was owned by J. Hetland & K. Nilsen. She was 1,143 gross tons.
Only now, 33 years after the event, do I note the mistake in my records. I actually had her down as built at Tonsberg; but with builders of Trondhjems M/V I should have realised my error long ago!
11.05.03: Among a batch of photos forwarded by John Winstanley I was delighted to find this view, which had been sent to him, showing the RAMSNES at Goole on 25 April 1965.

02.01.06: Until reviewing these pages I had forgotten that about a year ago I was sent a view of the RAMSNES while she was the FAGER, which can be found on the Warsailors site.
