The Teesside Ship Society was formed in 1956; became a Branch of the World Ship Society in 1971, and currently has just over 70 members in the Branch area - roughly from Scarborough in the south; the Richmond and Darlington areas, to just beyond Hartlepool to the north. In addition, there are about 20 subscribers to TEES PACKET from elsewhere in the U.K. and overseas.

Yours truly (with a somewhat quizzical look!) presents a Teesside Branch shield to Dave Howe, owner of the ELLA, following our 50th anniversary celebration on board at Hartlepool on Wednesday, 18 October 2006.

ELLA, ex ZEELAND, at Grimsby in 2001, before purchased by Dave and converted to restaurant ship.
