A FAVOURITE SHIP

DANBY CROSS

One of the better products of my dad's old bellows camera!
This was the new tug DANBY CROSS on 9 August 1961. How new? Well, years later, John Proud's book SEAHORSES OF THE TEES told me she was completed at Faversham on 4 August 1961 - and she still had to sail up to the Tees!

If I remember rightly, the Ship Society was visiting the then new ORMESBY CROSS which enabled me to take this nice elevated view of the DANBY CROSS at the Tug Station on the Tees on 17 December 1967.

(added 30.07.06):

DANBY CROSS, River Tees, 18 May 1965 (Box Brownie effort!)

**********

And, she is still afloat at the age of 45 years as George Robinson was able to remind me recently through RIVERSEA INTERNATIONAL.

Details from Piet van Damme's database ...
