A FAVOURITE SHIP
ALEXANDRA K
and
MSC ARCHER

ALEXANDRA K, Manchester, 15 September 1965
My first visit to Manchester, and it was raining as only Manchester can! So, I was very pleased to obtain a reasonable shot of this fine ship.
ALEXANDRA K, Cia. Merabello San Nicolas S.A., Panama, 2908gt, completed Wm Gray, Hartlepool, 5-1943, ex Uskmouth-62, ex Eskgarth-51, ex Empire Valour-48. 1968 Arisitidis II, Greece, 1971 broken up.
I was reminded of this favourite ship by the appearance of this view of the USKMOUTH from the collection of Richard Cox on RIVERSEA INTERNATIONAL (George Robinson):

While I'm at it, the companion view to the ALEXANDRA K at Manchester is this of the MSC ARCHER:

M.S.C. ARCHER, Manchester, 15 September 1965
(Head tug on the ALEXANDRA K - pouring down!)
M.S.C. ARCHER, Manchester Ship Canal Co., Manchester, 144gt, completed Leith 8-1938. .....?
This lovely solid looking tug does not feature in my numbered record of personal sightings because by 1965 the M.S.C. tugs were not detailed in Lloyd's Register, having been deleted several years previously, presumably regarded as being harbour-use vessels only.
